Business Profile

About Us Chinese Herbal Health is an acupuncture clinic in Skerries, Co. Dublin, run by Marianne Caren since 2003.

Marianne has been treating people in North Dublin with Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs. She has helped many people with a variety of different conditions and is always updating her studies.

Marianne began her training in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland in 2000. During her 3 year training Marianne enjoyed the course so much she started a 2 year diploma course at the same time in Chinese herbal Medicine.

Having qualified as an Acupuncturist & Herbalist, she travelled to Nanjing China where she did her post graduate training in the International Acupuncture Training Hospital.
Today, acupuncture is an effective, natural and popular form of health care that is being used by people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, for a range of disorders, in many areas of the world.

Acupuncture & fertility Acupuncture is now frequently used by Irish women as an adjunct to IVF fertility treatment. Many women use acupuncture to help maximise their chances of conceiving, either before, during or indeed independently of IVF.

Recently, research has been published to demonstrate acupuncture’s role in helping increase success rates of IVF. The research, which was published in the British Medical Journal of 7/2/08, stated that "acupuncture increased the odds of clinical pregnancy by 65% compared to the control groups". The study looked at 1366 women who were undergoing IVF infertility treatment and had acupuncture treatments around the time of embryo transfer.

It seems logical to assume that if acupuncture can benefit a couple's chances of conceiving while undergoing IVF, it should also be beneficial to fertility generally. Indeed, in my own practice more and more women are using acupuncture to help with fertility and fertility related issues without necessarily being on an IVF programme.

Pregnancy and Acupuncture Nausea during Pregnancy
Acupuncture is often very effective in reducing both the severity and incidence of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Research from Australia highlighted that women receiving traditional acupuncture (where points where chosen according to an individual diagnosis) experienced faster relief when compared to those groups receiving routine prescribed points or “sham” acupuncture. This research also looked at the successful pregnancy outcomes for the women involved, concluding that “acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for women who experience nausea and dry retching in early pregnancy”

Muscular Skeletal Pain

Back pain, rib pain, sciatica and symphysis pubis pain are common in pregnancy and can all be markedly reduced with acupuncture. Research from Sweden concluded that when compared to physiotherapy, acupuncture was the treatment of choice for symphysis pubis and sacroiliac pain.
