Business Profile

Physiotherapy Kiltipper Woods Physiotherapy specialises in Muscoskeletal Rehabilitation and Neurological Rehabilitation on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Our physiotherapists provide high quality physiotherapy and occupational therapy rehabilitation through a professional and personal service, developing individualised treatment programmes tailored to the patient’s specific needs. We aim to maximise your body’s potential through assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.

Hydrotherapy At Kiltipper Woods we use a Swimex 1000-T hydrotherapy pool that is fully equipped with laminar water current technology which your therapist uses to optimise the intensity of your workout. The pool also utilises an integrated underwater treadmill in tandem with the water current technology and is the only pool of its kind in Ireland.

Hydrotherapy is the safest and most progressive form of rehabilitation because it takes place in a gravity neutral environment, thus decreasing impact and trauma on weight bearing joints during rehabilitation. The simulated weightlessness allows treatment to begin earlier and more safely, thereby accelerating the healing process.

Our hydrotherapy programmes are conducted by chartered physiotherapists, who are highly trained in hydrotherapy. All programmes are specifically tailored to the needs of each individual patient. Our therapy is goal orientated so the patient can achieve results in each session.

Sports Rehabilitation Sports rehabilitation is a physiotherapy approach to treat injuries sustained through athletic activity so the athlete can regain normal pain-free mobility. Our team consists of highly trained professionals who work with both professionals and amateurs. The primary goal of our physiotherapists is to return you to pre-injury activities. Our sports rehabilitation begins with the treatment of the acute injury and follows you through every step of recovery from pain relief to optimizing muscle length to returning to pre-injury performance to injury prevention. Sports rehabilitation is a comprehensive rehab program that focuses on pain-free, effective, sports-specific motion.

Dry Needling Dry Needling is the insertion of sterile single use acupuncture needles directly into myofascial trigger points. Myofascial trigger points are essentially multiple knots within a muscle fibre which can cause and contribute to pain within the body. The needles are inserted into the skin and directly into the myofascial trigger points. Inserting needles into trigger points causes biomechanical changes which release the trigger point and alleviate pain. Very often upon insertion of the needles, a “local twitch response” is elicited. This is a desirable effect, which signifies the first step to breaking the pain cycle and releasing tight trigger points within muscles. Dry Needling is strictly based upon Western medicine principles of treating myofascial trigger points, which are different to traditional acupuncture points. Dry Needling can be used to treat a variety of conditions including back and neck pain, shoulder and arm pain, headaches, buttock & leg pain, calf tightness or cramps.

"Hydrotherapy"

""I can not put into words how much coming for hydrotherapy at Kiltipper Woods has changed both Chris’s and my life. Coming here is the first thing that has put a smile on Chris’s face for a long time. Every week he looks forward to coming so much and he talks about it all week long. By coming we have gained four friends in the staff that are here. The staff work wonderfully together as a team and they are genuinely friendly, caring and compassionate. You can’t put a price on the experience you get by coming here. It has given us both a new lease of life, something to look forward to!" - Ann, on behalf of Chris, 42"

"Hydrotherapy"

""I suffered a compound fracture of my left elbow in June 2011. My healing process was complicated by other medical issues. I began attending Kiltipper Woods at the specially designed hydrotherapy pool in late 2011. The team of physiotherapists are very well trained and have a multidisciplinary approach to each individual’s requirements. I can highly recommend all the staff, their professional care and dedication. The exercise and physiotherapy program is devised to suit each individual’s needs.""

"Dry Needling"

"“Before I started the dry needling, I couldn’t walk with the pain in my leg. I was in agony, it was like an electric shock down my leg. It caused me to lose my balance and fall. I had no control over it. I was beginning to think I would never get better, but once I had the dry needling I started to feel better and better. It's unbelievable the difference, I’m getting my life back again, walking better, improving every week. I feel like I have my leg back again! My friends have all noticed how much better I am since I started the dry needling, they can’t believe it. I haven’t an ache or a pain now.”"

The exercise in the pool is a marvellous experience and has been very beneficial to me. I get expert help and assistance in the pool. The gym is very efficiently equipped and I do exercises that have helped me improve my mobility and maintain my independence.”"
