Business Profile

A Swedish Company that became an Irish Phenomena - The Toy Soldier Factory in Cork Prince August was started in 1958 in Sweden by Jan Edman and in the 70's his son, Lars Edman, relocated it to West Cork, Ireland. We manufacture rubber moulds that allow our customers to cast at home their very own metal miniatures. We have a wide range of figurines to choose from, including chess sets, toy soldiers, fantasy monsters, fairies, Christmas, Easter and Halloween decorations and animals. In 1987 Mithril Miniatures was founded and gained its license to produce collectible metal miniatures based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Since then we have produced over 600 amazing figures of every character you can imagine from the classic land of Middle-earth.
Every visitor to our factory will enjoy a full demonstration of how to cast a metal miniature and we have workshops for all ages to let you, and your family and friends, try it out yourselves. School and coach tours can also be arranged with a wider experience, including making your very own mould. This is an experience that you will never forget.
Free Parking & No Entrance Fee too.

"“Really nice experience and the kids loved it :-)”"

"I took my niece and nephew (aged5 &7) to visit the factory last week I hadn't thought of it as a place to take them as they are not really "into soldiers" but they spotted the sign for the factory on a road trip elsewhere and decided we had to go!!!

So we did ... On arrival they got a great kick out of popping there heads through the character stands and had their pics taken , then we went into the shop where we looked around ... We were then given a demo and allowed to mould our own figures . It was great that there were plenty of options of what to make I chose a Xmas decoration and the kids did a mounted soldier and a ballerina .

The lady on duty was extremely helpful and patient and showed us around the factory floor also.

I really enjoyed the experience and the trip got a thumbs up from the mini reviewers !!
All in all we spent about an hour here , I would recommend taking a picnic also as there are lovely benches in the green area :-)"

"“Sunday morning bliss”"

"The staff here are brilliant - great with the kids and very patient.
we spent nearly 2 hours here - kids went to paint in huge detail on their pieces - but I got to read the Sunday papers undisturbed!
Great way to spend a morning, if your kids are even slightly arty!"

"“Wow! Fabulous family fun!”"

"Make the time to spend an hour or two with your family if you're in the region... it's not far off the road between Killarney and Cork, and is a great stop to break up the drive.
The visit is all inclusive, giving you a full demo, tour of the factory and then a chance to do it yourself. We found ourselves quickly hooked into the craft and it was super to see the kids using their fine motor skills and being so absorbed (they were very quiet).
If you and the kids love Le go or other small craft, you'll love this!
We got hooked and bought the starter kit at the end... our 30 minute workshop turned into a two hour visit all up. Brilliant."

"“One of a kind!!”"

"Was my 3rd visit to the factory and already dying to go back again! Took my 10 & 7 yr old daughters & their 7 yr old friend and they all loved the visit! The kids did the workshop and despite the fact that they were in no hurry to finish in 20 mins no pressure was put on us to leave. Apart from the workshops the pieces on view are fascinating and staff are friendly and ready to answer any questions! Inspires you to be creative!"

"“Thanks for the Memories Toy Soldier Factory!”"

"Well Day #99 on my ‪#‎100happydays‬ journey is almost over and I managed to visit two businesses that were on my to-do list for quite some time. One of which Dad & I were supposed to visit looking for something specific, but now I can say it is ticked off our list.

Many Many Thanks to Meredith at Coolavokig Pottery for having so much time for me; for your happiness & for your Simply Beautiful Pieces of Art, especially the many pieces I purchased from you for my Mom, sister & myself! Some pieces are ear-marked as Special Pieces for our first Christmas without Dad this year, so Many Many Thanks!

The second place on my ‪#‎happydays‬ journey today was to Toy Solider Factory where I purchased a Very Special Personalised piece of Art for Dad for our first Christmas without Dad in our Home. Will always be present in My Heart though! Thanks to Joan & Eileen working there for their kindness."
